# Channex

## What is Channex?
Channex is a white-label channel manager API for teams that build the software a property runs on — commercial Property Management System (PMS) vendors, and hotel groups building their own in-house PMS. It provides OTA connectivity without having to build or maintain the integrations.

Channex operates as a pure B2B wholesale solution — it does not sell directly to hotels. Partners integrate once via the Channex API; PMS vendors resell the connectivity under their own brand, and in-house teams use it inside their own system.

- Property Management System (PMS) providers who want to offer channel management as part of their product
- Software companies building hotel, vacation rental, camping, or glamping management platforms
- Hotel groups and hoteliers building their own in-house PMS, who need certified OTA connectivity without buying a third-party channel manager

Channex is wholesale-only: it sells through software, never direct to hotels, so it
never competes with the properties its partners serve.

## Origin
Channex was founded in January 2020 by a hotelier who had built his own property
management system in 2015 and sold it in December 2019. The pain point that
started Channex was the channel managers that PMS had to integrate with: they
were expensive, had no modern API, and were inflexible. Channex exists to be the
opposite — a modern REST API, per-property pricing, and wholesale-only so it
never competes with its partners.

- Platform fee: $130 per month (flat)
- Includes: Competitive per-property pricing, API Access, White-label solution, Mapping API, Tech Support

### Per-Property Charges (billed monthly, on top of the platform fee)

#### Channel Manager
- Hotels: $7.00 per property. Volume discounts:
  - 500+ hotels: $6.00
  - 1,000+ hotels: $5.00
  - 2,000+ hotels: $4.00
- Vacation Rentals: $0.50 per unit. Volume discounts:
  - 2,000+ units: $0.45
  - 4,000+ units: $0.40
  - 7,000+ units: $0.30

#### Chat & Reviews (optional add-on)
- Hotels: $7.00 per property per month
- Vacation Rentals: $0.50 per unit per month

#### Charged on top (usage and overage)
- Duplicate channel connection: $1 per month, where one property connects to the same OTA more than once. The first connection to each channel is included.
- Stripe tokenisation: $0.02 per transaction. Optional — only if Channex sends card details to Stripe on your behalf.
- Included property size limits:
  - Hotel: 20 room types, 200 rate plans per property
  - Vacation rental: 50 room types, 10 rate plans per room type
- Overage, charged only on the excess:
  - Hotel — each room type over 20: $1 (capped at $7 per property)
  - Hotel — each rate plan over 200: $0.10 (capped at $7 per property)
  - Vacation rental — each rate plan over 10 per room type: $0.10

#### Billing Notes
- Only properties with at least one active channel connection are billed.
- The $130/month platform fee applies in addition to per-property charges.
- All prices are excluding VAT.
- Billed monthly, no fixed term or minimum contract. Cancel any time with 30 days' notice. No setup fees.
- Channex contracts on its standard terms. Custom terms and security reviews carry a $1,500 review fee.

### Frequently Asked Questions

#### Is there a free trial or sandbox environment?

Yes. The staging server is free — sign up at staging.channex.io and start building straight away, no sales call and no card required. You get the full API to test against, map channels, and validate your integration before anything goes live or is billed.

#### Are there minimums, commissions or hidden fees?

No minimums and no commission — there's no minimum number of properties, no certification fee, no commission on bookings and no setup cost. Nor is anything hidden: every charge we can raise is published on this page. Most accounts pay the platform fee plus the per-property fee and nothing else, but four things can be added on top. Three are usage-based: $1 a month for each duplicate connection where one property connects to the same OTA twice or more, $0.02 per transaction if you use Stripe tokenisation, and overage on properties larger than the included limits of 20 room types and 200 rate plans per hotel. The fourth is optional and entirely in your hands: a $1,500 review fee if you ask us to leave our standard contract for custom terms or a security review.

#### How and when am I billed?

Your first month is pro-rated from your start date. After that, on the 1st of each month we automatically charge the platform fee plus the per-property fees for that month in advance, and email you the invoice.

#### What counts as an "active" property?

A property counts as live once it has at least one active channel connection. Properties that are set up but have no active connection are not billed. Because each month is charged in advance on the 1st, adding or removing a property mid-cycle doesn't change that month's invoice — there's no pro rata or credit either way, and the change is reflected on the next one.

#### What does the $130/month platform fee cover?

The platform fee covers your API access, the Channex dashboard, the Mapping API, unlimited user seats, standard tech support, and onboarding assistance. Per-property charges are billed on top of this fee based on the number of active connected properties.

#### Are there volume discounts for large deployments?

Yes. Hotel rates reduce from $7.00 to as low as $4.00 per property at scale, and vacation rental unit rates reduce from $0.50 to as low as $0.30 per unit. Use the pricing calculator to see the exact rate that applies to your portfolio size.

#### What contract length is required?

There's no fixed term or minimum contract — Channex is billed monthly and you can cancel any time, with 30 days' notice. Scaling the number of connected properties up or down needs no notice at all.

#### Can we contract on our own terms?

We contract on our standard terms. If you need us to work from your paper instead, negotiate custom terms, or complete a security review or vendor questionnaire, there's a $1,500 review fee. Our standard agreement is published in full — read it before you sign up, and most partners find they don't need changes.

#### Is there a setup or onboarding fee?

No. There are no setup fees. Onboarding and technical support are included in the platform fee.

#### Can I white-label the Channex interface for my customers?

Yes — the WhiteLabel plan is specifically designed for PMS providers and booking engines who want to offer channel management under their own brand. The interface, API responses, and documentation can all be white-labelled.

## Current limitations
- OTA listing creation: Channex cannot currently create listings on OTAs. Create your listings directly on the OTA, then connect them to Channex.
- Listing content: Channex cannot currently update listing content such as images, facilities and amenities on OTAs. Manage that content directly in each OTA's extranet.
- Reservation changes: A PMS generally cannot change dates or cancel an OTA reservation through Channex. Guests usually make those changes through the OTA where they booked, and Channex delivers the updates to your PMS. Some channel-specific actions are available, such as reporting a no-show to Booking.com.
- Channel differences: A supported channel does not necessarily support every pricing option, restriction, messaging or review feature. Check the channel-specific documentation before implementing a workflow.

Listing creation and content management are planned for Booking.com and Airbnb only in 2027. This is a roadmap target, not a guaranteed release date.

### Step 1 — Get Access
- Read API docs at https://docs.channex.io
- Create a free staging account at https://staging.channex.io
- Generate an API key to authenticate requests

### Step 2 — Create Property, Rooms, and Rates
- Create a property via API (hotel or vacation rental)
- Define room types (e.g. Single Room, Suite)
- Set up rate plans (e.g. Standard Rate, Non-Refundable)

### Step 3 — Send Availability, Prices, and Restrictions
- Send available room counts per date via API
- Send daily rates and restrictions (minimum stay, closed dates) via separate API call

### Step 4 — Receive Bookings
Two options (both recommended together):
- **Pull method**: Poll the Booking Revisions Feed API across all properties. Acknowledge each revision after saving. When using webhooks, also poll this feed every 15–20 minutes as a backup.
- **Push method (webhooks)**: Channex sends a webhook on new bookings. Pull the booking by ID, save it, and acknowledge. Must use HTTPS and return 200 OK.
